Exercise For Fitness and Health
If you live in America or the UK, then you can just look around you in the street, office, mall or other busy place and see more than one generation of overweight or obese people. Most of those people have unhealthy diets, and just as many do not get anything like enough exercise, contributing to that high level of obesity. Being fat is an epidemic; being inactive is an epidemic.
The long term result of all that surplus fat is a future of heart disease, cancer, diabetes and hypertension; those are the destructive symptoms of a society that is poorly nourished (lots of food, but mostly the wrong food) and sedentary (hardly moving all day enough to exert themselves).
If you are reading this, then at least you care sufficiently to do so. You are not necessarily looking for a quick fix potion to get rid of surplus pounds. You do not expect a miracle to help you losing weight; you may not even need to lose weight. But you are quite unusual.
Most Americans and Britons are in a state of denial when it comes to their weight and fitness. The truth can hurt, so lets avoid the truth and hope that one day there will be a cure for that too. You never know; a recent study with obese mice and resveratrol resulted on their life span increasing by about 20%. So, does that mean that we can all sit aorund getting less and less fit?
That is your choice, but you are to be admired for at leasting reading this far. I am sure you know in your heart, if not for certainty, that exercising regularly will make you feel and look better; in fact, you will be better.
For most of the time humans have existed, exercise was inevitable to survive. It is only recently that sedantary lifestyles have become almost the norm, so now people have to take positive action, do something different, to get the exercise they need.
