Try Horse Riding As a Fitness Aid
You have probably never thought of horse riding as a health and fitness aid, but if you give it some thought I think you will understand why riding a horse can help you to keep fit. Although the horse does all the running, trotting and walking, and you are just sitting on the saddle, of you watch someone on a horse you will see that their body is moving the whole time. All of that movement is exercise, and will gradually improve your fitness, health and well being.
Not everybody takes to horse riding, but if you and your family fancy trying, it is a great family activity with a number of benefits:
1. To ride a horse, you will quickly improve your balance and posture. You have no chance, as you will fall off if you do not have the right balance. That is something you will learn quickly and automatically.
2. You will improve your core muscles continuously while you are riding, and getting additional little exercises like grabbing rings while trotting. You will never see a totally still horse rider. All the movement is exercise, and it is beneficial exercise that will help your overall fitness and health.
3. Overall muscle tone will steadily improve the more you ride. You will notice it most in thighs and calves, but in fact almost every muscle in your body could eventually benefit, especially as you get more confident and move your body more consciously to improve your riding skills.
4. You can go horse riding in a good environment surrounded by nature and fresh air. This can be of benefit to your overall health and fitness.
5. Horse riding makes a good family activity, one which spouses and children can join in. This type of sharing is great for family life and happiness.
